A 49-Year Heritage
From the Heart of Ledbury to the Future of Skincare.
At Wallers’ Cosmetics, our story doesn’t start in a laboratory. It starts at 88 The Homend, Ledbury, in the heart of the Herefordshire countryside. It is a story of family, tradition, and a deep-rooted respect for the natural world that has spanned nearly five decades.
The Butcher’s Legacy
In 1977, David Waller opened the doors to D.T. Waller & Sons. With a butchers bike, a set of knives, and a simple ethos— to provide the highest quality local meats with absolute integrity—he began serving the people of Ledbury and soon the Three Counties too.
A few years later, David was joined by his sons, Matt and Nathan. The three slowly began transforming this little butchers shop into a multi-award-winning institution. For 49 years, the Waller name has been synonymous with "Gold Standard" quality, winning supreme championships for our traditional methods and our commitment to local farmers.
The Evolution: Field to Face
As traditional butchers, we have always lived by a simple rule: Provide Quality - Waste Nothing. We watched as the modern world turned toward synthetic, water-filled skincare, forgetting the ancestral wisdom that our forefathers knew well. We realized that the most powerful skin nutrition was already in our hands. The nutrient-dense, grass-fed tallow from our Herefordshire beef—rich in Vitamins A, D, E, and K—was being overlooked.
Wallers’ Cosmetics was born from a desire to bring this "Butcher’s Secret" back to the modern world. We took the same high standards that won us gold medals in butchery and the produts we made and applied them to skincare.
The Circular Promise
Our cosmetics are the final piece of our Circular Economy. By repurposing high-quality suet from our own butchery and blending it with raw honey and beeswax from local Herefordshire beekeepers, we ensure that every part of the animal and the land is honored.
We don’t use fillers, parabens, or "nature-identical" synthetics. We use what the land provides, prepared by hand in small batches right here in Ledbury.
The Waller Commitment
Whether you are buying a prime cut of beef or a jar of our Meadow Rest balm, you are buying into the Waller family commitment:
- Locally Sourced: We only use ingredients from the Three Counties (Herefordshire, Worcestershire, and Gloucestershire).
- Time-Honoured: We use traditional methods that respect the biological needs of your skin.
- Small Batch: Every jar is hand-poured and inspected by our family at 88 The Homend.
We’ve spent 49 years nourishing your family from the inside out. Now, we’re here to nourish you from the outside in.

Made by Hand, with Heart
Each batch of Herefordshire Tallow & Honey is crafted by hand using traditional rendering and blending methods.
We take the same care in every jar as we do in our award-winning butchery patient, precise, and proud of our heritage.
Our Ingredients
We use only a handful of pure, natural ingredients — nothing synthetic, nothing unnecessary.
We believe great skincare doesn’t come from laboratories it comes from craftsmanship, patience, and respect for what nature provides.
That’s why we’ll always make our balms by hand, in small batches, using ingredients you can recognise and trust.
Beef Tallow
Locally sourced from our family butchery, D.T. Waller & Sons in Herefordshire.
We carefully render the pure suet using traditional methods, creating a clean, creamy tallow rich in skin-loving nutrients.
It’s the heart of our skincare — deeply moisturising, soothing, and naturally protective.
Raw Honey
Collected from trusted local apiaries.
Honey is a natural humectant that draws moisture into the skin while offering gentle antibacterial and healing properties.
Beeswax
Beeswax locks in moisture and creates a breathable barrier that protects your skin from dryness and irritation.
It also gives our balm its smooth, silky texture.
Castor Oil
Rich in ricinoleic acid, castor oil helps calm inflammation and adds a touch of natural shine and softness to the skin.
Vitamin E Oil
A powerful natural antioxidant that supports skin repair and helps preserve freshness in every jar.
Essential Oils
We blend only pure essential oils — no synthetic fragrance — to create our three scents:

Liquid Gold Emerges
As the minced suet gently heats, the pure tallow slowly separates and melts into a
clear, golden liquid. This unhurried process is crucial for achieving the
highest quality, most nutrient-dense tallow, free from impurities.
Blending the Goodness
Once the tallow is purified, we meticulously prepare the other natural ingredients.
Here, you see the rendered tallow, local beeswax pastilles, rich honey, and
nourishing oils – all measured precisely, ready to be combined to create the
perfect balm.
Pure, Solidified Tallow Blocks
After the rendering process is complete and the liquid tallow has been carefully
filtered, it is allowed to cool and solidify into these pristine, creamy
blocks. This pure, white tallow is now ready to be transformed into our
nourishing Herefordshire Tallow & Honey balm.
The Balm Takes Shape
The solidified tallow, alongside the beeswax and other oils, is gently warmed. This careful heating allows the natural ingredients to melt and begin to integrate,
forming the luxurious base of our Herefordshire Tallow & Honey balm.
A Creamy Blend
With all the natural ingredients melted together, a gentle immersion blender is used to emulsify the mixture. This step ensures a beautifully smooth, consistent,
and luxurious texture, transforming the liquid into the rich, spreadable balm
you'll love.
The Finished Balm
The journey from by-product to luxurious skincare is complete! After thorough
blending and cooling, our Herefordshire Tallow & Honey balm is carefully portioned into elegant amber glass jars. Each pot is a testament to our dedication to traditional craftsmanship, sustainable practices, and the powerful, natural healing properties found in the heart of Herefordshire, now
beautifully presented and protected.
